I remember moving there in 2008 and feeling totally unsafe while walking around. However, today is a cool, up and coming, creative and young hub. Jan 22, 2008 · It depends on what you want, I lived in Krainem, (quite near Teruven )that wasn't too bad commuting, it is a suburb and quite posh, if you want city life (also lovely) Park Cinquantire is lovely, and not as expensive as the suburbs.. which has a dual carriage way straight into the ring road.. so North East Brussels..

Brussels Town Hall, with its bell tower, takes centre stage, and the surrounding guild houses are equally opulent. A three-minute walk away is Brussels’ other big cultural hit: the Manneken Pis, a 15th-century public fountain.
Leaving aside squats, the cheapest way to live in Brussels is the same as in any city: a room in a shared flat. If you’re a student or a stagiaire, there are short-term rentals available which might be consulted at your school. - area of Merode/Montgomery metro stations: lots of shops/cafes/restaurants, especially close to Merode. Parc du 50aire meters away. Schuman 1/2 metro stops or nice walk. - Ixelles area (around Place Flagey and Etangs d'Ixelles OR around Place Chatelain OR in Avenue Louise). The Grand Place in Brussels is hidden away in the centre of the city but when you enter on foot, you are guaranteed to be left awestruck. At the centre of the Grand Place is the beautiful 15th Century city hall but dotted around the square you will also be impressed by the six guild halls and their striking architecture.
